My pup was being raw fed by the breeder, very new to me, well I researched and found it was a great way to feed your dog BUT when we got him home we fed him his raw food and found it is not what I want to do, my kids try touch his food and bones no matter how hard I try to keep them away and pick it up right after he is done, keep him in the kitchen with the baby gate up while he is eating, but there are times when it gets by me, so now I’m feeding kibble in the past couple days and my question is what do you think of INNOVA, EVO Red Meat dog food is made from four sources of red meat – beef, lamb, buffalo and venison. What is your opinion on this dog food and did I make the right choice? Thank you. I really did like feeding raw but just found it was just not for me.
Thanks, he did take to it right away I’m suprised, I thought he wouldn’t eat it at first because he is so use to eating raw but he gobbled it up with no problems, I will try mix it up with raw every now and then and continue to give him fish as he loves herring.

i think its a fine choice…but you should make sure that your dog gets enough exercise and burns enough calories daily to be able to intake that many when she eats. make sure that the food has a minimal or no preservatives or by-products, for these are NOT good for dogs.
I think it’s a great food and understand your concern about your kids getting into the raw product.
I’d say stick with what you are feeding (Innova Evo) if your pup is tolerating it well.
That is a very good dog food. Also, you might (when you can) add fresh meat to the food.
INNOVA IS A GREAT DOG FOOD MADE WITH FRESH VEGGIES MEAT ECT. KEEP USING IT!!!!
I am going out today to get innova, evo for my 10 month old puppy per my vet’s orders. The vet gave us a sample and my puppy loved it! The food I have to buy though is not red meat, but my puppy has a yet undiagnosed liver condition and needs to be on this food. I trust my vet greatly and he has his own puppy on the innova, evo. From what I have read, it is the closest kibble you can get to a raw diet. A raw diet is not for me either, we just do to much traveling with our dog. You didn’t mention your puppy’s age or breed, so if you have any concerns you can talk to your vet about it. Good luck and enjoy your new puppy!
You made a good choice. I also like the Evo Chicken formula. Innova is not the only one out there that makes “raw alternative” foods, though. Keep a look out for grain free foods that are available around you and give your dog a variety. Just make sure you gradually switch when you try something new….not Chicken one day and Venison the next.
I rotate my dog’s food all the time, from one good one to another, and back again.
Innova Evo is an excellent choice!
are you uk or usa?
I feed my dog mostly raw, but sometimes she gets dog food too and thats fine…but i’m very particular about which brand. most pet foods are 4 or 5% ‘meat derivatives’…sounds good, huh? whats the other 96% i ask? it’s future vets bills is what it is…most skin conditions, various cancers, gum disease and other such ailments are caused by the crap they put in pet food. Honestly, you dont want your kids touching that!
you could try the old fashioned ‘left-overs’ diet (no onions or garlic though) That way, whatever you and your kids have ate, the dogs eating too, so if the kids touch it, it wont do them any harm.
Otherwise, Marks and Spencers luxury dog and cat foods are the best i’ve found so far…made with more than half fresh meat and not as expensive as the rest of the stuff in their supermarket – it costs about 60/70p a can.
I hope this helps you and your family

Innova Evo is a great food, it gets an ‘A+’ from this dog food ratings system http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-food-ratings.html
You can also use this system to accurately rate any dog food according to the quality of it’s ingredients.
Innova is good. My dogs are on a raw diet but I give them the Innova dog treats.
One suggestion is freeze dried food. From what I understand, it has a lot of the benefits of Raw food and is a little easier to deal with. Steve’s Real Food is available Freeze Dried. I haven’t used it but I have used their regular raw product.
